Lead Generation

Lead generation is a term used in the world of business and advertising and it refers to the use of computers (the internet, programmes, databases etc) to research on particular topics with the aim of increasing the size of the business both in terms of sales, in terms of scope and in terms of employment. It is essentially the process of obtaining leads so that a company can get their product out to prospective clients. A company will obtain information that informs them of their target audience and prospective customers so that they can work out how likely they are to buy the product they have on offer.

There are various methods of implementing lead generation. Online lead generation is the specific use of the internet either through the use of search engines or specific sites suited to leads. There is also the option of using spyware and spam emails, however these practices are frowned upon. They could also use broadcast advertising (such as television ads), the use of mailing, PR work and telemarketing.

Effective lead generation following ethical models and determination can be beneficial to a business.
